Words to the wise:
Heyy! A new layout for the journal! This layout goes as complete thanks to Claire Jones... Beautiful work!Alright. Here's my little rant, so bear with me...
Ok so this is DeviantArt.. Not Penthouse Forum. Incase many of you have yet to realize.. when posting things on here, it is likely to be viewed by people of ALL ages, and I have a few ticks to knock off.
First, What's the difference between art and porn? I'll tell you the difference.. One you post in a museum... the other you post in Playboy. Big difference, right? I was just viewing a few random pieces around dA, and well, I'm disappointed people!
While I've found a few pieces worthy of a daily deviation that feature the human body, naked of course, I've also found a few that I'm disgusted to see on a website dedicated to artists and their work! And it's not just these deviants that are to blame.. I see many of you have posted comments like "woohoo! Whatta hottie!" etc.
Can we make it a general rule that.. if this isn't something you'd show to your little sister, it's not something you should show a world of artists online? (many of which are only 13- as thats the youngest dA will allow)
Don't worry, I'm not bashing all nudes, just those that don't exactly classify as 'art', but would be more fit to be seen in a teenage boys dirty magazine box.
Okay... Rant over.
NOW FOR: A New Deviation To Enjoy

Devious Comments
Ten minutes spent sitting by a pretty girl may feel like ten seconds, but ten minutes next to your high school algebra teacher may feel like ten hours. That is relativity.
Art is relative, just as the old saying states that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You also overlook the fact that people use deviantArt to show off things they draw or take pictures of, regardless of what it is, so long as it follows the rules, or evades them. This website is a social networking website, as well as an archive of artwork from amateurs and professionals.
I could probably get a statue of two dogs engaging in reproductive activities into a museum if I really tried at it.

This whole rant started when I just had enough of it.. one way or another I stumbled across this user whose entire gallery was dedicated to pictures of women he'd managed to get to pose nude for him. And when I say '
and all his comments were from users of the alike saying things like "Oh i'd totally do her" etc. etc.
it was silly!

For example if I said I would "totally do that chick across the room," it simply means I enjoy looking at her, and would perhaps also enjoy taking her to get some coffee and begin a discussion on the evolution of human society.
Besides, the vitruvian man is a loser. He wasn't meant to be art, hes a diagram of a person to show proportion.
Furthermore, what reason is there for pornography not being art? Art is "the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance."
As previously stated, art is relative. quality, significance, beauty, appeal, all relative. It depends on the situation and who you are.
As I understand it, in some countries women can't even expose their skin without repercussions. Other countries, women can do as they please with their bodies.
What about men? What if they were in the same poses as you describe, would it be more or less artistic? Aside from the comments changing from "I WANNA BANG THAT" to absence, there probably would not be much difference. Is it still pornographic?

Ok, that's the quote. I was close with the girl and the sitting.

At least, if you believe it to be completely relative, than just in my opinion
